The power of MAGNESIUM

Did you know that the moon can affect our sleep? With every full moon, I personally find myself tossing and turning at night, and feeling like I need to cat nap throughout the day.

If this is you, you are not alone! The moon affects the water and tides, so it's of no coincidence that since we are made up mostly of water, that we are going to be riding the moon waves too. The moon also affects our brain wave patterns and can leave us feeling over (or under) stimulated.

This last Blue Moon really lit me up from the inside out and sleep was erratic. Nights of insomnia, broken sleep, midnight intuitive messages and day time fatigue had me reaching for extra support. Vitamin B12, mushroom adaptogens, such as Reishi, Chaga and Lion's Mane were a common addition to my dandelion and chicory breakfast tea blend.

At night, I found myself reaching for my magnesium spray, which I use on the bottom's of my feet for extra absorption and a soothing magical magnesium elixir by Wooden Spoon Herbs ( that includes the benefits of Spirulina. Sipping on this about an hour before bed made a world of difference!

Did you know that magnesium is best absorbed through the skin? Magnesium helps to relieve muscle aches, twitching, restless leg and supports muscle function. It's a benefit for those who have chronic anxiety, stress, and low bone density.

Magnesium can contribute to regulating our nervous system, aiding our adrenals, strengthening the heart muscle, and can support normal psychological functions.

As with anything, too much is never a good thing. Always check with your Doctor or Naturopath to see if magnesium can be a benefit to you.

Stock up on some healthy foods to also increase your magnesium levels.


Fresh, leafy green veggies, whole milk, whole grains, figs, corn, apples, almonds, fish, garlic, peaches, apricots and even lima beans (not my favorite but good for you).

Since doubling up on this natural mineral, magnesium has relieved my nervous tension, soothed my joints and offered me a deep and restful night's sleep.
